Who you are hiring

Seventeen years of MW builds, run by the person who still walks your job.

Mindworking opened its doors in 2021. The name on the sign is new; the hands are not. Marcus Reyes spent eighteen years on Dallas–Fort Worth job sites before founding this company — eleven of them framing houses, seven running projects for other builders — and left because he was tired of watching good clients get handed a bigger invoice than the one they signed.

We are deliberately small, and we intend to stay that way for a while. We take on one project per crew at a time, which means a lead carpenter is on your job every day and the person who quoted it is the person who answers the phone. Growing slowly is a choice — it is the only way we can put the commitments below in a contract and actually keep them.

We are a design-build contractor, which means the person drawing your kitchen and the person pricing it work in the same office. Nothing gets designed that can’t be built for the number in your contract, and nothing gets ordered until you’ve signed off on the selection. It is a slower way to start a project and a far faster way to finish one.

We called the company Mindworking because the thinking is the part most contractors skip. Every hour spent on drawings, selections and sequencing before demolition is an hour nobody has to improvise on site — and improvising on site is what a change order actually is.

Our mission

To take the fear out of remodeling — by pricing honestly, scheduling realistically, and communicating before you have to ask.

Our vision

To be the contractor North Texas homeowners recommend by name, because the finished house and the signed contract matched.

How we work

One lead carpenter per job, one project manager per client, and a written update every Friday until the final walkthrough.

“I framed houses for eleven years and ran other people’s projects for seven more before I ever hung my own sign. That’s why our estimates hold — they’re built by someone who has done the work, not someone guessing at it from an office.”
Muhammad Faysal · Founder & General Contractor · 18 years in the trade · Lic. #TX-0000000

Recent work

Our first four projects, with the numbers left in

Every job we have completed under our own name, with nothing left out: the scope, how long we were on site, and what it cost. No “contact us for pricing”, and no cherry-picking — this is all of them.

Load-bearing wall removed in a 1946 bungalow

The client wanted one room where a kitchen, a hallway and a formal dining room used to be. That meant an engineered beam, a new footing under the existing pier-and-beam foundation, and re-routing the entire kitchen electrical run. Original oak floors were laced in so the seam is invisible.

Why homeowners pick us

Six commitments most contractors won't put in writing

Every one of these is in your contract. If we break one, you can point at the page.
01 / FIXED PRICE
Your number doesn’t move
The contract price changes only if you request a change, or we open a wall and find something genuinely concealed. Either way you approve it in writing first — no invoice ever arrives as a surprise.
02 / SCHEDULE
A dated schedule before demolition
You get a phase-by-phase calendar with real dates, not “about three months”. Every Friday you get a written update on where we are against it, including when we’re behind.
03 / ONE CONTACT
One project manager, start to finish
The person who quotes your job manages it and answers their own phone. You are never handed to a call centre or asked to explain your project to somebody new.
04 / IN-HOUSE CREWS
Employees on site, not day labour
Framing, carpentry and tile are done by Mindworking employees. Where we do use trade partners — electrical, plumbing, HVAC — they’re licensed, insured and have been with us for years.
05 / CLEAN SITE
Dust walls, floor protection, daily clean-up
Negative-air machines and sealed containment on every interior job, hard floor protection down every path the crew uses, and the site broom-clean before anyone leaves for the day.
06 / WARRANTY
Ten years, and we actually come back
Ten years on our workmanship, transferable once if you sell. Warranty calls are scheduled within five business days — the same crew that built it comes back to fix it.

How a Mindworking project runs

Six steps, and you'll always know which one you're in

From the first phone call to the final walkthrough, here is exactly what happens, who you’ll be dealing with, and roughly how long each stage takes.

01

Day 1 · 15 minutes
Phone consultation
We ask what you want changed, what you’d like to spend, and when you need it finished. If your budget and your scope don’t line up, we say so on this call rather than after you’ve spent a month on drawings.

02

Week 1 · 90 minutes, free
On-site visit & measure
A project manager walks the space, checks what’s behind the walls where we can, measures, and photographs everything. You get a realistic budget range before they leave the driveway.

03

Weeks 2–4
Design & selections
Drawings, 3D views and a materials list you choose from in our showroom. Every selection is priced as you make it, so the total updates in front of you instead of at the end.

04

Week 5 · one meeting
Fixed-price contract & schedule
A line-item price, a dated build calendar, allowances spelled out, and the payment schedule tied to completed phases — never to the calendar. You sign once and the number is locked.

05

Weeks 6+ · the build
On-site visit & measure
We file the permit and meet every inspector. Containment goes up before demolition, a lead carpenter is on site daily, and a written progress update lands in your inbox every Friday.

06

Final week
Design & selections
We walk the job with you and write down everything you notice. The punch list is closed before the final payment — not after — and your warranty documents are handed over the same day.

Before & after

Same room, same
camera position

Every pair below is shot from the identical spot before demolition and after the final clean, with no wide-angle lens and no staging brought in.

Galley to open kitchen · Lake Highlands

Soffit removed, wall opened to the living room, and the range relocated to the exterior wall so the hood could vent properly. 9 weeks.

Tub to walk-in shower · Arlington

Fibreglass surround out, fully waterproofed tile shower in, plus a relocated vent and a widened door. 4 weeks.

Full exterior refresh · Fort Worth

Fibre-cement siding, new architectural shingle roof after a hail claim, and a rebuilt front porch with a stone base. 3 weeks.

Where we build

Serving the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex
